Learn to Skate

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Learn to Skate Classes are for skaters interested in pursuing figure skating, hockey or recreational skating.

The Pavilion Skate School participates in and follows the Learn to Skate USA Curriculum.

The mission of Learn to Skate USA is to provide a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating.

Objectives of Learn to Skate USA:

  • Teach children and adults the fundamentals of ice skating while building confidence and skills through each lesson.
  • Provide a progressive curriculum that ensures success from the first steps on the ice to the mastery of advanced skills.
  • Promote the health and fitness benefits of ice skating.
  • Improve gross motor skills
  • Equip each participant with the foundation necessary to reach their goal, be it recreational or competitive in nature.

Learn to Skate USA is the only ice skating program endorsed by U.S. figure skating, USA Hockey and U.S. Speedskating. Learn to Skate USA offers every participant a rewarding experience rooted in the lifelong benefits of ice skating.

Our 10  or 8 week sessions consist of 30 minutes of direct instruction and 20 minutes of off-ice practice. Membership to US figure skating, and a pass for free admission to a pre-designated public session, is included. Skaters are grouped by ability, not age.

Basic Skills 1 -Pre-Free Skate:

Designed for students 4 years & older. Move up level by level while learning and having fun with our coaches. Learn edge work, stroking & turns in the basic skills levels; start spins, jumps, and footwork in the freeskate levels.

Registering:

You can register after the start of the first class and be pro-rated into the session as long as there is still space available in the class. If you are a beginner skater, we would not recommend joining the class after the third class, instead join for the start of the new session.
